ONE IN THREE

By partnering with the dating app Happn and Equality Now, we managed to bring awareness to just how many women are survivors of physical and sexual abuse. One in three women that you cross paths have undergone some kind of physical or sexual abuse. So, on International Women’s Day, we included models with bruises on their faces in each user’s feed of potential matches baring the name “I’m One in Three.” The first image shows a woman who appears to be bruised, followed by a progression of three additional images that signify that the woman is healing. Thereby conveying the message that paying attention to violence against women and noticing its survivors is an important first step in ending this scourge.

Happn matches its users with people they’ve literally walked past. The campaign was seen by over 10 million people in 21 major cities (New York, Paris, London, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Rome, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Sao Paolo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Oslo, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Bogota and Hong Kong) all over the world, it got the users to think about how somebody they walked past today might have been a victim. The campaign was originally destined to be live only on the 8th of March but due to the overwhelming response we received, Happn decided to extend the campaign to a week.
